After a year of thinking about it, I’m finally launching my first blog post. Why a year? Because I’m an introverted deep thinker. I have to analyze all of the possible reactions to what I’m going to write because I know words are powerful. Words can illicit all kinds of emotional reactions and it’s important to me to weigh all of the consequences of those words.
On the other hand, there’s this personal need to just allow all these eclectic thoughts to flow. It’s like a cleansing of sorts. I journal, and that’s satisfying to a point, but what really gets me going is open dialogue with others on whatever the focus happens to be for that day. It’s a way to get me to think about different points of view and hopefully a way for you to do the same.
The blog title “A Music Teacher’s Mid-life Musings” is just that. I am passionate about all things music education and a lot of my musings will come from that. However, sometimes things I’m currently reading, people I’ve talked to, social media, etc., will trigger subjects – hence, the “musings”. And well, I’m actually a little past mid-life (unless I’m planning to live to be over 100), but I like to think that life experience adds to those musings.
I am setting perimeters for this blog however. I will never accept name calling or inappropriate language, no matter how passionate I or others are about a subject. My dad always said that if we have to resort to that kind of thing, you obviously need to expand your vocabulary. I tend to agree.
So welcome to this blog and tomorrow we’ll decide on the topic for the day…. : )
